The Executive Deputy Governor of Benue State His Excellency Engr Benson Abounu has called for full support of the Benue State Open Grazing Prohibition and Establishment of Ranches Law 2017, stating that Pilot Ranches built by the State Government would soon take off in the state.
Engr Abounu made this remark while addressing men of the press at the burial of Late Dr Clement Ogbeh which took place on the 29th of March 2018 at his Otukpa residence. Abounu Who led a high-powered delegation to the burial, came to Sympathise with the family of Late Dr Clement Ogbeh who is also a Younger brother to the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Chief Audu Innocent Ogbeh.
Reacting to questions fielded by IPNNEWS.INFO feild correspondent, John Acha when asked about steps taken by government to further implement its Ranching Polices in the State, the Deputy Governor explained that Resources including human, financial and technological resources were been put in place by the State Government to bring about high efficient, cost-effective and of cause frendly environment for Ranching.
Engr Benson Abounu also stated that the Law was not against any ethnic group, tribe or religion rather the Law is binding on all, as even indigenous cattle rearers and owners would have to operate a Ranch and keep their animals off the streets and farms. He reaffirmed the position of the Dr Samuel Ortom Led administration, that Ranching was the only way to solve the crisis and painful murder of Benue Citizens.
The Governor however stated that this was not a time for politics rather a time for sober reflections for loved ones who have been lost. He Described the Death of Late Dr Clement Ogbeh as a painful loss to the bereaved family, Idoma and Benue at large. He Sympathized with the family and prayed that the good Lord comfort and see the family through this period of painful mourning.9
