PhotoNews: Abounu Commences Interactive Meetings With The Grassroots

Gets endorsement for 2019 Elections.

Benue State Deputy Governor, Engr Benson Abounu yesterday commenced a tour of the 9 local government areas in Benue South Senatorial District with visits to Agatu and Apa local government areas and a promise that the Samuel Ortom administration shall soon regularise the payment of workers salaries in the state.

He explained that the government is making strenuous effort to sort out the mess in the salary payment system and the overloaded wage bill which he blamed for the difficulties being experienced in the payment of workers’ salaries.

Engr. Abounu who heads the State Emergency Committee on salary issues disclosed that on regularising the payment, government attention would shift to the outstanding arrears, adding that at the moment, the option of a bond is being pursued to address the problem.

The local government tour, meant as an opportunity for the Deputy Governor who is the leader of All Progressives Congress ( APC ) in the Senatorial District to interact one on one with the grassroots of the party and gauge their feelings on the performance of the government and areas they wish government to look more into turned into a story of endorsement for him and Governor Samuel Ortom.

In Agatu the people were excited and happy with the Samuel Ortom government for addressing several serious challenges facing them, among them the construction of the Oshigbudu-Obagaji road, which they pointed out the past PDP government never did; construction and renovation of several primary schools in Agatu, the promulgation of the law prohibiting open grazing of cattle; award of contract for the construction of Obagaji -Okokolo – Agagbe road and several others.

The council chairman, Hon, Mrs Comfort Echoda, three-term member, Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Solomon Agidani, former chairman Agatu local government council, Hon. Mrs Owakoyi Eghariuwa, the APC chairman, Agatu local government area, Symba Mommoh, and representatives from the 3 zones in the local government all spoke glowingly of the Sam Ortom administration and assured it of their support and that of the Agatu people.

At Ugbokpo in Apa local government area, the story was the same. The Council chairman, Solomon Danjuma, the APC chairman, Inalegwu Ichapi, the state commissioner for Finance, Hon.David Olofu, Chief Ameh Udoh, Barr Omale Omale and representatives of the zones praised the efforts of the administration pledging reciprocal support for Governor Ortom and Engr Abounu in the 2019 elections.

The interactive meeting was attended by major stakeholders of the party from the two local government areas.
