Ortom Loses Another Of His Aides To PDP In Okpokwu

One time caretaker chairman of Okpokwu Local Government Council and the extant Legal Aide to Governor Ortom, Christopher Onyiloyi Idu, decamps from APC to the PDP yesterday. He was received by the Former Minister of the Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, and the Chairman of the PDP, Hon John Ngbede. He was said to have been pushed to leave the APC by his mentor Hon. Herman Hembe, who himself was recently stampeded out of the APC.

Recall that Ortom also lost Hon Anthony Adah (popularly known as ‘Trigger’), his  Senior Special Assistant on Youth Mobilisation to the PDP a few weeks. Hon Anthony Adah was said to have moved out of the APC because of the non-performance posture of the Governor Ortom. He told IPN in an interview that he needed the freedom to take side with the workers of Benue who have not been paid for months.

However, reached, a top aide of the governor, told IPN news, that Mr Idu has never been APC in the spirit and that he is one of the food is ready politicians that Comrade Moro railed against. According to him, Mr Idu, who worked for Tarzoor and only jumped into APC after Ortom had won and was made the Caretaker Chairman by another “decampee”, Hon James Okefe, who is the Deputy Speaker of the Benue’s Assembly. He boasted that the those leaving them for the PDP, in Okpokwu, are nothing of consequence having never been able to form an APC structure or win any election in that local government council. Okpokwu. “He won’t be missed”. He said.

Hon Nathaniel Ikyur the renowned journalist and Governor Ortom’s Aide on Public Utilities, Environment and Sanitation  had this to say, with respect to this development, on Akioyamen Josephine’s wall on Facebook:

” Akioyamen Josephine my sister, when the story of elections and Benue South Senatorial district shall be told, you will know, (that’s if you haven’t known) that most politicians in that zone are not real. And some of us know this. Most of those you see in APC today are FAKES. Apart from Hon Nelson Alapa and a few others who stood their grounds through thick and thin, the rest are what we call ‘food is ready’ politicians. They all came in after presidential elections. I have a detailed narrative on this. So to me as a person, our strengths in the forthcoming elections will not be relied on that area.”

What is becoming clear however, is that the ground is being prepared by Comrade Abba Moro, for another shellacking of Governor Ortom in the 2019 gubernatorial race, as he was in 2015 in Okpokwu, especially in an election where Ortom can’t afford to lose any ground being beset with the accusations of discriminations in appointments and projects, in Zone A and C. It is also clear that Ortom has no one to blame but himself, as a result of his amateur hour with the Deputy Speaker of the Benue Assembly.
