OPINION: RESPONSE TO THE OGADELEE PROPAGANDA THEORY..

IN RESPONSE TO THE OGADELEE PROPAGANDA THEORY..

By Comr Hon. Mike Alidu Magagi

Women are the life wire of any society since it is in them that life itself is formed, this goes to explain why world over the respect for the female gender cannot be said to be overemphasized and as such any attempt to bring them to ridicule ( irrespective of where they are from) is jettisoned by all who fall within the class of reasonable people.

For instance in a certain culture in Nigeria the culture of shaving women hair to mourn their husbands as well as forcing them to drink the water used to wash the corpse of the deceased husband to prove their innocence in the man’s death has been criticized by informed mind.
Also the insinuations that a certain tribe has the culture of offering their wives to entertain their visitors has been debunked and discredited, this is because it reduces the women of that society to items of pleasure for the men and that sex with them is no longer a thing of mutual consent but as an obligation they owe to their husbands and his friends. This brings women to unimaginable ridicule.

Unfortunately the idea of patriarchy and relegation of women the Nigerian society has made it very easy for the light heads and shallow mind to jump at any given opportunity to showcase their irrationality such that they can go whatever length to make mockery of very serious issues when women are involved the most recent being the case of an undergraduate of Benue State University who reportedly died after making love to a lady believed to be from Agatu Local Government area of Benue State.

By origin I am from Agatu and can authoritatively talk about the Agatu as a people.
The typical Agatu woman is homely, comely virtuous. The fact that she contented sets her apart thus the recent by some unscrupulous people to speak despicably about the women from Agatu is not just unfortunate but shows how low people can descend especially those who are supposed leaders of tomorrow .

The current report on social media where it was alleged that Enogela died after making love to an Agatu lady and therefore Agatu ladies should be avoided is the height of irresponsibility. Weather or not the reports is true is a different case entirely because no Medical reported has been quoted to substantiate the claim. Whatever the case Agatu is bigger than just an individual and bigger than shallow minds of those who intend to insult nobility of the people. Take or leave it Agatu ladies remain more noble than those who can be given out any time to please visitors.
