Former Benue State Governor, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Torwua Suswam PhD CON, has stated that his detention experience at the hands of the Directorate of State Security (DSS) has made him mentally stronger and more focused

The former Governor also said the experience afforded him quiet to time to reflect on issues and expressed the belief that he is better convinced and committed now than ever to working with the people towards achieving quality governance for the good of the state.

He spoke while receiving Working Committee members of the state’s chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at his Abuja residence earlier today.

In his remarks, leader of the delegation, State Chairman, John Ngbede, had reflected on Suswam’s detention which he observed had lasted over 70 days without his being taken to court.

But the Benue PDP State Chairman expressed optimism that the experience was capable of making the former Governor a better leader.

Ngbede assured that the party was more motivated and unified in the state by the persecution of its leaders, pointing to the peaceful conduct of its recent primary elections in the state as a point of strength.

With Suswam at the time of the visit were Senate Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Alh. Yayale Ahmed.
