IF I’M TO CONTEST BEYOND 2019, ABOUNU WILL STILL BE MY DEPUTY – ORTOM

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has said if he was allowed by the constitution to contest governorship ten times, Engr. Benson Abounu would still be his choice for Deputy.

The Governor spoke today at the Benue People’s House, Makurdi during an endorsement rally organised for him by the All Progressives Congress, APC, stakeholders from MINDA his immediate constituency and the Benue South Senatorial District, otherwise known as zone c, where his Deputy, Benson Abounu comes from

Governor Ortom expressed satisfaction in the relationship between his Deputy and himself describing him as a dependable, tested and trusted ally.

He revealed his divine leading to contest 2019 governorship election after seeking the face of God through fasting and prayers adding that the leading for him to run for a second term coincided with the calls of MINDA and zone c people.

The Governor urged other people particularly MINDA sons who were eying the seat to shelve such plans and join him to complete the work of building Benue State to enhance the welfare of the people.

Speaking separately at different periods, elders and stakeholders who led the rally including, Chief Akange Audu, Hon. Bernard Ochepa, Arc Asema Achadu, Mike Vembe, Chief Mike Iduma, Hon. Nelson Alapa, Patrick Mamadu among many others said the people of MINDA and zone C have spoken with one voice that Governor Ortom has performed creditably well and deserves another term to complete his good work.

They noted that the people of Benue most of whom they said were farmers, were happy with the Governor for his courage in signing into law the Prohibition of open grazing and establishment of ranches law, 2017 observing that the implementation would bring about peace across the state and promote increased agricultural activities.
