Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom has called on youths in the state to set high personal goals and remain focused on their vision, promising to provide the enabling environment for them to flourish and actualize their goals.

He spoke while receiving members the Benue state chapter of the Young Enterpreneurs of Nigeria (YEN), who paid him a courtesy call at the Benue People’s House, Makurdi.

Represented by his deputy, Engr Benson Abounu, Governor Ortom advised the youths not to be government dependent but to use their entrepreneurial spirit and utilise the numerous opportunities provided by government to develop themselves and achieve their potentials.

He said for the youths to succeed, they must show clear determination and will as well as the readiness to save and invest, adding that in whatever they do, they should aspire to do it to the best international standard.
Governor Ortom who disclosed that his government is putting together about N100m as loans to entrepreneurs in the state further charged them to team up together and form cooperatives and partnerships to enhance their capacities to achieve set goals.

Earlier, President of the group, Arc. Mrs Nguvan Maranatha Kyenge said they were at the Benue People’s House to seek the mentorship of the governor whose story of rise from grass to grace in enterpreneurship is an inspiration to them.

She revealed that YEN Benue’s vision is that of an economically vibrant state where business opportunities abound for all our youth. According to her, YEN Benue is committed to the mission of repositioning the mindsets of the youths through networking, mentoring, loans and grants that can enable them start, build and maintain global brands.

Arc. Kyenge called on the youths not to sit and fold their arms but look for ways to create something out of nothing and add value to the community, adding that they should aim big without been afraid to start small..
