Engr Abounu Makes Case For Benue In The Federal Civil Service

Benue State Deputy Governor, Engr Benson Abounu has made a special appeal to the Federal Civil Service Commission to give due consideration to the employment of qualified Benue state indigenes into the federal civil service.

Engr Abounu made the call yesterday while receiving some relief materials from the Head of the Civil Service of the federation, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita at the warehouse of the State Emergency Management Agency ( SEMA ), Makurdi.

Engr Abounu who thanked the Head of Service for her support and solidarity with people of the state over the recent flooding of the state expressed the desire of the State Government to partner with the Federal Civil Service Commission in addressing issues of common concern to them.

He lamented the large army of qualified Benue indigenes roaming the streets without jobs and called on the Head of Service of the federation to consider their employment and help relieve the state of the trauma of dealing with a restive, unemployed youth population.

Earlier, the Head of Service who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Arch. Sunday Echono said they were in the state to commiserate with people of the state over the recent flood disaster and to formally handover the relief materials to the State Emergency Management Agency.

She commended the quick and matured manner the State Government handled the flood disaster as well as other matters of state and called for continuous support to the government.

Among the items donated to SEMA were bags of 25kg rice, semovita and wrappers.
