Plans have been perfected by Chief Mike Okibe Onoja and his group to move en mass to Social Democratic Party, SDP. The decision is said to have come after many months of consultations across Benue and beyond.
A source close to Chief Onoja, former Federal Permanent Secretary Ministry of Defence said he took the decision after holding a closed-door session with his political associates when he was advised to move to the fledgeling party which is said to be growing by the day in Benue State.
Chief Onoja’s move is also said to have been predicated on the need to protect his political turf as top leaders of his current party, the All Progressive Congress, APC are said to working in concert against his political interest.
The highly celebrated politician from Ado Local Government considered pragmatic and benevolent by many, opted for SDP after weighing the option of returning to his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP but was cautioned against it by his political associates.
According to the source, Chief Onoja will soon declare for Benue South Senatorial seat on the platform of SDP. The business mogul is said to have considered SDP a viable political option conducive to articulate his workable vision and his new sustainable strategic plans for the people of Benue South Senatorial District.
