One of the greatest achievements of this government is in the area of security, where crimes have been reduced substantially.

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State disclosed this today at the Benue People’s House while presenting 16 brand new vehicles to security agencies in the State to enable them tackle security challenges in various areas in the state.

He said prior to the inception of his administration, arms were domiciled in the hands of so many youths which they used to engage in kidnapping and other associated crimes but through his amnesty programme, tremendous success was recorded in that regard.

The Governor charged the crime fighters, made up of the Military, Police, Civil Defence and the State Security Services, SSS, to brace up the fight against all forms of criminality and pledged to provide the enabling environment for the private sector to thrive by consciously reducing crime in the state.

He revealed that four areas where the vehicles will be stationed have been identified and these include Katsina Ala, Makurdi, Gboko and Otukpo from where they will convey personnel to flash points.

The state number one citizen appreciated the Joint Security Task Force also known as “Operation Zenda” and other security agencies for successes so far recorded adding however, that more needed to be done to nip in the board the new wave of assassinations and other criminal activities.

On the implementation of the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law 2017, the Governor said livestock guards will be established as contained in the law before the November 1st deadline.

Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the joint security operatives, Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, Mr. Bashir Makama, thanked the governor for the presentation stating that the gesture will help in quantum measure in the fight against crimes in the state.
