The Federal High Court sitting in Makurdi today heard the case instituted by People’s Democratic Party under the leadership of Sir John Ngbede against the Benue Independent Electoral Commission for its refusal to accept lists of Candidates submitted by the Makarfi faction of the Benue’s PDP.

The Court presided by C J. Aneke granted an order for service outside the jurisdiction and also an abridgement of time for the respondent to file their counter affidavit.

The court further adjourns till the 17th day of May 2017 for the hearing of the substantive motion for an interlocutory injunction restraining the BSIEC for conducting the local government election slated for 3rd June 2017 pending the determination of the originating summons filed by the PDP.

The court equally granted leave for the PDP and 23 applicants to serve the process in the parties within two days from today.

However, the court declines to grant the interim injunction sort by the PDP.
