Benue Buries 26 Victims Of Fulani Herdsmen Terrorism At Okpokwu

The Funeral was today held for the 26 Murdered Benue Martyrs at the open field of St Bernard Primary School, Okpoga the HQ of Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State.

The event was attended by Governor Ortom, his Deputy, some members of his cabinet, and the chairman of Okpokwu local Government Council, Hon Francis Olofu and a huge crowd of mourners.

The state government last week in respect of the wishes of the family members cancelled the mass burial it has planned out of respect to the wishes of the families of the victims who intimated them that it was against the custom and traditions of the Idoma people.

The Victims who were Idoma people resident in Omosu village, Edumoga, Okpokwu LGA, Benue were killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen who attacked the community on the 5th day of March, 2018 in defiance of a peace meeting called between the Fulani community in Okpokwu and the Local Government Chairman after two of their cows were said to have been killed by some cattle rustlers.

Details later.

  1. The fulani should just pack & leave the community. Don’t they ve thier own village. The government too is not helping matters. How can the security not be able to locate where this people are operating from. Government of Benue State should get serious over security. What routes re this fulani’s using to come and cause this harm. Is this how they ii keep killing the people. Something needs to be done & thats the government.Government should leave up to their expectation please.
